2006 Cascabel Shiraz
It's back! The 2006 Cascabel Shiraz is grown in the Currency Creek wine region which is on the southern tip of the Fleurieu Zone - south of McLaren Vale and west of Langhorne Creek. According to Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation research, the area is on par with Margaret River in terms of its climate.
Shiraz from Currency Creek tends to be elegant, low in tannin, silky and spicy which sums up the 2006 Cascabel perfectly. In fact, it's the best red I can ever recall having from the region.
Instantaneously enthralling at first whiff, this is an earthy Euro-styled Shiraz. Refined and polished with layers of interest, this Cascabel has a gentle force all of its own. A+ for cool.
(It's in both the current packs we like it so much.)
